. Granite Pier Newsletter…..Spring 2008

This is a new idea the Granite Pier Committee has incorporated to keep those who store their boats and equipment at the pier as to changes and events for the upcoming season. It is our intent to publish this twice a year, in the spring and fall. This will be sent out with your bills at that time.

2007

As most of you have noticed, during last summer we spent considerable time cleaning up and clearing brush in two areas; one behind the shed and along the road where the fishing gear is stored, the other is along West Wharf Rd. In addition we spread stone in the area behind the shed and added an additional storage space.

The area along West Wharf Rd was cleared of brush and debris and has been designated for small boat storage. This increased storage space in this area from seven to fourteen boats.

2008

Our plans for this year include the following;
     1. To spread stone over the trap/gear storage area. Hopefully this will take place in June.
     2. Continue the work along West Wharf Rd, to increase small boat storage in this area. We still have a waiting list for storage at the pier .
     3. Install new electrical service at the hoist and along West Wharf Rd We still have a     waiting list for storage at the pier
     4. Extend water service to the hoist area and along West Wharf Rd.
     5. A National Sailing Regatta will be held in August(9-12) sponsored by Sandy Bay Yacht Club and will use the Granite Pier facilities. They have made a generous donation to the pier and will provide a clean-up crew before the regatta.
    6. In response to the boaters and residents of Rockport for additional parking, we will expand the designated area for Resident Sticker parking.
   7. New signs will be installed on the pier to make is clearer where to store;
        • summer boats
        • trap/fishing gear
        • resident parking
       • non-resident parking
       • temporary parking for trailers

These are our “plans” and will proceed as our budget permits. Any donation to these activities will be greatly appreciated by the Granite Pier Committee.

Finally, any additional suggestions you may have to improve the services at the pier are appreciated by committee.

Regards

Granite Pier Committee
